BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's basketball handed Lees-McRae an 82-54 defeat in the lone exhibition of the preseason on Saturday afternoon in the Holmes Center.
After trailing in the first quarter, 16-15, the Mountaineers outscored the Bobcats over the final three quarters, 67-38.
With the game tied 23-23, the Apps engineered a 15-8 run over the final 6:43 of the first half to go into the break with a 38-31 edge.
Tierra Wilson's jumper with 6:36 left in the third frame gave App a double-digit lead, 46-36. Appalachian cruised the rest of the way as it never let the lead dip below 10 points.
Four players scored in double figures with Wilson notching 13 points, while
Bayley Plummer (12 points, 14 rebounds) and
Pre Stanley (12 points, 10 rebounds) registering double-doubles.
Madi Story scored 12 points to round out the leading scorers.
App will have five days to prepare for its season opener on Friday against the Preseason Conference USA favorites, UAB. Tip is slated for 7 p.m. (ET) in Birmingham.
