BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State volleyball extended its winning streak to four matches with a 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-20 victory over Troy on Sunday afternoon inside the Holmes Center.

The Mountaineers now stand at 17-7 on the season and 9-3 in Sun Belt play, which leads the Sun Belt East division. The Trojans drop to 10-14, 4-8.

Emma Longley recorded her third straight double-double with 18 kills and 10 digs. Kara Spicer added nine kills and five block assists, while Lexi Kohut had eight kills.

In Set 2, the Black and Gold won five consecutive points to turn an 8-5 deficit into a 10-8 lead. App State used a 4-0 run later in the frame to build a 15-10 advantage. The Trojans would pull to within two points late, but a kill from Longley clinched the set for App State by a 25-20 count to tie the match at 1-1.

The Mountaineers jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the third set and expanded their lead to 17-9. Troy trimmed the App State lead to three points at 23-20, but the Mountaineers got kills from Kohut and Longley to wrap up the set.

In the fourth set, the Black and Gold jumped out to an 8-2 lead and never trailed. The Trojans chipped the Mountaineer lead down to two points at 21-19, but the Mountaineers won four of the final five points to close out the contest.

App State hit .161 in the victory and recorded 53 kills. The Mountaineers also tallied nine service aces, which was tied for the fourth most in a match this season.

Appalachian State will return to action on Friday at 6:30 p.m. against Georgia State inside the Holmes Center.
