JONESOBORO, Ark. - Appalachian State University women's soccer (8-8-1, 5-4 SBC) suffered a 2-1 heartbreaker in overtime to Arkansas State (8-6-2, 5-4-0SBC) on Sunday afternoon at the A-State Soccer Complex.
Kat Greer scored the Mountaineers' lone goal in the 60th minute of the second period after
Kristin Brown's shot attempt deflected off an App State defender.
It's Greer's team-leading fourth goal of the season, which all have come during Sun Belt play.
After Arkansas State's Riley Ebenroth scored with 15 seconds left to tie up the game in regulation and force overtime, Sarah Sodoma recorded the score in overtime to give A-State the win.
App State netted 12 shot attempts but just four were on goal with
Ava Dawson, Brown, and
Amanda Sales registering a SOG.
Taylor Ray recorded seven saves in the contest including some big stops that kept Arkansas State out of the net.
Appalachian will end the regular season next Sunday against Little Rock at 1 p.m. at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
