KENT, OHIO - Appalachian State University field hockey dropped a 6-1 decision to top-seeded Miami in the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference tournament on Friday afternoon at Murphy Mellis Field. Freshman

The RedHawks will advance to the championship game on Saturday against the winner of Kent State and Longwood, while the 2017 season has ended for the Mountaineers.
Miami scored its first goal just 43 seconds into the game and then scored again in the 11th minute. At the 18:14 mark,

Savanna Sheridan that was passed to Van Heertum for App's only goal of the game.
The Mountaineers were held to just one shot in the second half, while Miami put up nine shots and scored four goals to take the game, 6-1.

Appalachian ends the season with an 8-11 overall record, which is head coach
