BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University field hockey (7-8, 2-3 MAC) captured its third consecutive shutout as the Mountaineers posted a 3-0 win over Saint Louis (4-10, 0-6 A-10) on Thursday night at Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field.

Ali Williams each scored a goal for the Apps.

Rachel Gaines picked up her fourth shutout of the season behind a ten-save performance. Sophomore
Annette Jarosz also registered a defensive save to help preserve the shutout.
In the first half, the Mountaineers were held to just four shots with no shots on goal, but the App State defense held strong against eight Billiken shots to keep the score 0-0 going into halftime.
App State came out of the half with a lot of intensity, firing away seven shots in the first six minutes before Sheridan scored at the 40:58 mark. That score was the senior forward's first goal of the season and first since her freshman year in 2014.
From the 44th minute to the 48th minute, the Mountaineers received four penalty corners, but were unable to score each time. In the 50th minute, Bell pushed the App State lead to 2-0 on her second goal this season.
Williams scored for the eighth time of the season in the 66th minute as App State closed out a 3-0 win.
The Mountaineers will face their final Mid-American opponent of the season when they travel to Ball State on Saturday, Oct. 21, for a 1 p.m. matchup.
