Opening Statement
We have to give credit to Georgia State. They had two weeks to get ready for us and I thought they had a really good game plan, especially defensively. They did some things a little bit different and we really did not get adjusted in the first half. We came out in the third quarter and had a great drive when Jalin (Moore) had a long touchdown run. I am very proud of how our defense played. They played outstanding and had four turnover importantly, we won the turnover margin, that is something that you have to do in a defensive battle. Overall, I am just proud of the win and to be 1-0 in the Sunbelt.
On offensive formation
There was one formation in particular we squeezed everybody down and their coverage would play off a bit. We got some mileage out of that set. It was basically for the run. They were stacking the box and getting a lot of pressure inside and we could not get loose down the field. That was the biggest difference from last year. We won 31-3 last year. We hit a few deep shots and that was the difference in the game. This year, we were a little banged up outside with our receivers and we couldn't knock the top off like we wanted to.
On defense
We have four interceptions today and that was awesome. Overall, our defense played outstanding. They were 19-44 passing the ball and that was great. We changed some things we needed to after the last two weeks. We played some man at times, which was a little bit different from the things that we did last week. Our goal was to try to not give them the clean throws that we gave up last week. We were not able to get any sacks this week because they were throwing the ball so fast. It was hard to get to the quarterback when they are getting the ball out in two seconds.
Jalin Moore
On rushing performance
Georgia State is really good at loading the box. They were able to do that last year. They pressure from both sides, and they just run. They have less penetration and they run all over the field. They just go.
On start of the 3rd quarter
We were really amped. We knew we had to go out and put points on the board. It wasn't the game that we expected to play, but we will take it however we get it.

On overcoming two missed kicks
As a field goal kicker, you have to have a short memory with every kick regardless of if you make or miss. You are only as good as your next kick. I was really frustrated after I missed that 44 yard field goal but I was just able to keep my head and make the last one.

On attitude for the game
One of the things that we really hit on as the leaders of the defense is that we have not played like ourselves. We have not 100 percent gone after the ball. We made a big effort to go out there and do it today. We didn't want to just talk about it, we wanted everyone that's part of the defense to chase the ball. I think that we did a pretty good job today.
On playing man instead of zone
It helped us out a tremendous amount. It allowed us to really go fast. When you play zone you have to sit back and wait on what the offense is going to do. Today in man, we were able to line up and see who we got and go after the ball. It helped us a lot in the passing game, especially the quick passes. We give a lot of credit to the coaches who allowed us to be in position and make plays.

On performance
We knew that we had to turn up the volume. We have not done things that have worked well for us in the past two weeks. We really just tried to come out and really prove ourselves and I think that we really were able to do that. We were not playing to the best of our abilities. We were able to force some turnovers and make some plays this week.
