• With the loss in its first-ever Sun Belt Conference game, Appalachian State fell to 1-3 overall (0-1 Sun Belt).
• The loss snapped Appalachian State's three-game winning streak against longtime rival Georgia Southern (3-2, 2-0 Sun Belt).
• Appalachian State dropped to 8-4 in its last 12 games against Georgia Southern.
• Appalachian State lost at Paulson Stadium for only the second time in the last 10 seasons. The Mountaineers' only other loss at Georgia Southern over last 10 seasons was a 21-14 overtime defeat on Nov. 6, 2010.
• Appalachian State's 74 rushing yards were a season low (prev. low: 153 at Michigan on Aug. 30).
• Appalachian State came away with zero points on three trips into the red zone in the second half. Over the last two games, Appalachian State has not scored on five of its 10 red-zone trips.

• Appalachian State junior defensive back Doug Middleton's 10 tackles were a career high (prev.: 9 vs. Samford and Georgia Southern – 2013).
• Appalachian State sophomore linebacker John Law's 16 tackles were a career high and (prev. career high: 15 at Elon – 2013) and the most by a Mountaineer this season.
• Appalachian State true freshman Latrell Gibbs made his first-career start at cornerback.
