Team
• With the loss, Appalachian State fell to 1-2 for the third-straight season.
• Appalachian State lost a regular-season game that immediately followed a bye for the first time since a 35-32 defeat at James Madison on Sept. 20, 2008. Appalachian had won four-straight regular-season games that immediately followed a bye.
• Appalachian State fell to 19-13 all-time versus current members of Conference USA.
• Appalachian State fell to 0-3 in games against active members of Conference USA. Its only previous games against active C-USA teams were losses at East Carolina (now a member of the American Athletic Conference) in 2009 (29-24) and 2012 (35-13).
• Appalachian State missed three field goals in a game for the first time since it missed three in a 28-14 loss at Wofford on Oct. 1, 2011.
• Appalachian State's 11 penalties were its most since it committed 12 in a 34-31 win over Elon on Oct. 9, 2010.
Individual
• Appalachian State redshirt freshman quarterback Taylor Lamb made his first-career start.
• Appalachian State sophomore running back Marcus Cox recorded the eighth 100-yard rushing game of his 15-game career with 119 yards on 22 carries (5.4 average).
• Cox surpassed the 1,500-yard mark for his career in the first half. He finished the day with 1,530 career yards.
• Appalachian State senior cornerback Joel Ross became the first Mountaineer with two interceptions in a game since linebacker John Law had two in a 31-21 win at Elon on Sept. 21, 2013. Ross is the first Appalachian State defensive back with two interceptions in a game since current Jacksonville Jaguar Demetrius McCray had two in a 35-27 win over Montana on Sept. 8, 2012.
