POSTGAME NOTES
Team
• With its fourth-straight victory, Appalachian State evened its record at 5-5 overall and moved to 4-2 in Sun Belt Conference play.
• Appalachian State moved into a tie for third place in the Sun Belt standings with three-time-defending conference champion Arkansas State (6-4, 4-2 Sun Belt).
• Appalachian State's four-game winning streak is its first since Sept. 22-Oct. 13, 2012.
• Appalachian State handed Arkansas State its first home loss of the season (4-1) and only its third defeat in its last 23 games at Centennial Bank Stadium.
• Appalachian State handed Arkansas State only its fifth Sun Belt Conference loss in the last four seasons (24-5).
• The win was Appalachian State's first in 11 all-time games played west of the Mississippi River.
Individual
• Appalachian State sophomore Marcus Cox rushed for 229 yards on 40 carries (5.7 avg.). The 200-yard game was his second in the last three games and third of his career.
• Cox surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark for the sixth time in 10 games this season and 12th time in 22 career games.
• Cox finished the game with 1,142 rushing yards for the season. His 1,000-yard rushing season is the 21st in Appalachian State history and his second in as many seasons.
• Cox is the first running back in Appalachian State history to rush for 1,000 yards as a freshman and sophomore. The only other Mountaineer to ever accomplish the feat was quarterback Armanti Edwards, who ran for 1,153 yards as a freshman in 2006 and 1,588 yards as a sophomore in 2007.
