Appalachian State Postgame Quotes
Head Coach- Jerry Moore
"I was very pleased with the win. You never really think
you're going to go out and score that many points but sometimes if you make
mistakes, like we did last week at Virginia Tech, you open the door for the
other team to score. North Carolina A&T threw that interception at the goal
line that got run back and Doug is one of the fastest guys in the state and
showed it on that play."
"I told our guys all week to fight back and they did just
that. No matter who you're playing you've got to have some stuff about you in
order to fight back."
(on his 200th win at ASU) "I never thought when I
got here my first year that I'd get to this point. The first tow to three
months were really rough but I've been blessed my whole life to be around the
right people and I've never taken that for granted. It's been a lot of fun and
it was a really neat moment for me."
Quarterback - DeAndre Presley
(on playing well early) "It was really important. We've been
looking to get over the Virginia Tech loss and we prepared that way. What
happened last week doesn't define us as a football team. We just wanted to come
out today and win big."
"Coach told us all week we just needed to get our confidence
back. Today we just wanted to take what we gave us and that's what we did. Last
week I made some shaky throws but today I was able to come out, make the throws
and get my confidence back.
Wide Receiver - Brian Quick
(on his career day) "We just went out and executed and did
what we had to do. I felt like I did a good job of executing well on my end but
I couldn't have done it without the help of DeAndre, the offensive line and
everybody else out there."
(on the celebration of Coach Moore's 200th win at
ASU) - "He said he didn't want the Gatorade shower but we just waited and
waited. We didn't tell him we were going to get him and as soon as the buzzer
went of we got him. I think it really surprised him."
Cornerback - Doug Middleton
(on his interception return for a touchdown) "It felt like a
dream. I didn't even feel like I was running. I was just patient, got my chance
and made a play."
(on reading the quarterback) "I just read the quarterback's
eyes the whole time. I knew if he threw it I was going to catch it and there
was no way they were going to catch me."
North Carolina A&T Postgame Quotes
Head Coach- Rod Broadway
"We have a lot of work to do. I felt we were out coached,
out manned, and out hustled and we have a lot of work to do. I think our
offense looked halfway decent but our defense rolled over and that is what
happens when you are out manned, out played and out coached."
"There are a lot of teaching moments, number one we talked
about all along about the effort and how fast a good football team plays and we
have to learn how to manage that."
"One of the thing we were afraid coming in was that it would
take four series before the game to slow down for us. We tried to play fast
right away but you know it was 14-0 real fast because they out played us and
were faster than us. You can't
make the mistakes that we made against a good football team."
Quarterback - Lewis Kindle
"We had a good plan coming into the game and later on in the
game we started pressing and a couple of turnovers came. We need to get better
every day and every game. Fumbles and turnovers always hurt, and if we
eliminate turnovers it's a lot closer game."
"We need to get less penetration on our pass blocking. I
think we ran the ball pretty well, but not as well as we would have liked."
Wide Receiver - Wallace Miles
"We have to execute and everyone has to do their assignment.
On the touchdown it was a go route, Lewis looked at me and I looked at him and
told the coaches that's what we want and we went after it and connected.
"Our coach preaches that if something bad happens keep
playing and if something good happens keep playing, and that is what we did,
and stayed around for a little while. When they got up 51-6, I just thought 'we
have to maintain our poise and keep fighting'. You know it is rough to come
back from forty points in the fourth-quarter."
