Postgame Notes - ASU vs. Furman

NO. 3 APPALACHIAN STATE 10, FURMAN 20
NOVEMBER 5, 2011 - GREENVILLE, S.C. (PALADIN STADIUM)
POSTGAME NOTES

Team

• The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Appalachian (6-3, 4-2 SoCon).

• Furman moved to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in SoCon play with its third-straight win.

• ASU lost for only the third time in its last 34 SoCon games.

• ASU lost to a SoCon opponent besides Georgia Southern or Wofford for the first time since 2005 (34-31 loss at Furman on Oct. 8, 2005).

• ASU had a six-game winning streak versus Furman snapped.

• ASU outgained Furman, 399-365, and held a whopping 36:15-23:45 advantage in time of possession. However, ASU had four turnovers and scored just 10 points on five trips into the red zone.

• ASU no longer controls its own destiny in its quest for an unprecedented seventh-straight SoCon championship. The only scenario in which ASU can get a piece of the SoCon title is to win its final two games (next Saturday vs. Western Carolina, Nov. 19 at Elon) and have Wofford to defeat Georgia Southern next Saturday and lose to either Western Carolina on Saturday or to Chattanooga on Nov. 19.

Individual

• ASU sophomore wide receivers Andrew Peacock and Tony Washington set career highs with 79 and 59 receptions, respectively. Peacock's 79 receiving yards were also a career high.
