TEAM

  • With the win, Appalachian moved to 1-2, 1-0 in Southern Conference play. Samford fell to 2-2, 0-1 (SoCon).
  • Appalachian extended its winning streak in SoCon games to 13, which is tied for the seventh-longest in league history and is the longest since Georgia Southern won 15-straight SoCon games from 1997-99.
  • One game after surrendering 522 yards of total offense to McNeese State, the most allowed by an ASU team in five years, Appalachian limited Samford to 192 yards, including just 71 in the first half.
  • Appalachian snapped a two-game losing streak at Kidd Brewer Stadium, its first in nine years, with its 43rd win in its last 46 home games.
  • Appalachian won for the 16th time in its last 17 games that immediately followed a same-season loss.
  • Appalachian moved to 30-8 all-time in SoCon openers.

INDIVIDUAL

  • ASU junior running back Devon Moore rushed for 106 yards on 17 carrries (6.2. average), good for his second-straight 100-yard rushing game and the third of his career.
  • ASU senior quarterback Armanti Edwards racked up 211 yards of total offense (194 passing, 17 rushing) to move him to 14th in NCAA Division I FCS history with 11,301 career total offense yards.
  • With a 13-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, Edwards became the second player in ASU history and the eighth in SoCon history with 50 career rushing touchdowns.
