Willie Casstevens joined App State Athletics in August 2022 as an Athletics Administrative Assistant, before being promoted to Assistant Director of Marketing in May 2023.
 
Originally from Winston-Salem, N.C. Casstevens graduated from App State with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, and a year later received his Graduate Certificate in New Media Literacies and Global Perspectives.
 
During his time as a student in Boone, Casstevens worked closely with a variety of different departments within App State Athletics. He worked as an intern in the Development Office in the spring of 2021, in addition to serving as a student equipment manager for the football team from 2020-2021. While earning his graduate certificate, Casstevens led the marketing efforts with the softball program in the spring of 2022.
 
Casstevens also served as the Director of Baseball Operations for the Boone Bigfoots, a summer collegiate baseball team which plays their home games at App State.
 
In his free time Casstevens enjoys fly-fishing, hiking, golfing, and skiing. He began coming to Boone with his family when he was 4 years old, and now resides in the High Country.
