Ryan joined App State athletics in July 2023, as the Asst Director of Creative Video.

Schmidt came to Boone following his tenure at Around the Corner Productions assisting in production and editing. While in Cedar Falls, Ryan put together story-based content for local and national companies, as well as dynamic hype promotional videos for Northern Iowa Athletics.
 
In 2018, Schmidt PR'd his 800m after eating a full plate of fettuccine alfredo.
 
Prior to his time at Around the Corner, Schmidt served as the lead student videographer for the University of Northern Iowa Athletics while earning his undergraduate in Digital Media Video Production and Digital Media Leadership with a minor in Marketing. He worked with 11 sports and produced 6 intro videos.

When at Olive Garden, Ryan orders the Chicken Tortelloni Alfredo with Zuppa Toscana Soup.

Originally from Okoboji, Iowa, Schmidt now lives in Boone, N.C. In his free time, he enjoys running, goldfish, and making videos.
