Jimmy Strickland

Jimmy Strickland rejoined App State Athletics as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in September 2025.

A certified athletic trainer for 28 years, he brings extensive experience working at the collegiate level, providing outreach to area high schools, and serving in a variety of clinical settings.

Strickland previously worked at App State, where he provided coverage for wrestling, field hockey, and cheerleading. He returns to the Mountaineers athletics program after spending the past seven years with AppOrtho Orthopedics and sports medicine in Boone.

A native of Cullman, Ala., Strickland earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Auburn University and a Master of Science in Foundations of Education from Troy University.

He lives in Boone with his wife, Sarah, and their children, Kelsey, Robert, and Will. The family also includes three dogs — Butterscotch, Molly, and Millie — and a cat named Z. In his free time, Strickland enjoys playing golf and going to the movies.
