Colson Smith joined App State athletics in July 2023, as the Assistant Director of Game Operations.
 
Smith began working for the operations department in August 2020, while he was a student at App State. He continued to assist in a variety of areas throughout his college career, earning his degree in communications in December 2022. Following graduation, Smith continued to assist App State athletics on a part time basis, leading up to his full-time hire.
 
A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Smith grew up bleeding Black and Gold. The son of two App State alums, Smith was in attendance for the football victory over Michigan in 2007, as well as the 2006 and 2007 National Championships. More recently, Smith was in College Station for the win over Texas A&M in 2022.
 
An avid sports fan, Smith also enjoys hiking, skiing, and spending time outdoors with his dog, Luna.
