Stephanie Kostis joined App State Athletics in October 2022 as the Director of Operations for the wrestling team.
A two-time graduate of App State, Kostis earned her bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education, with a concentration in language arts and mathematics in 2009. She then completed her master’s degree in Middle Grades Education, with a concentration in language arts in 2011.
Kostis went on to teach for 12 years, both in grade school, and with pre-service teachers in App State’s Reich College of Education. She was named the North Carolina Secondary Teacher of the year in 2011, and Teacher of the Year in 2017. Additionally, she served as the Head Softball Coach at Watauga High School from 2010-2014, and coached a year of softball at Watauga Middle School in 2018.
“As a former Mountaineer student-athlete, App State Athletics has shaped so much of who I am, and I am thrilled to give back and serve the athletics community in this role,” Kostis said.
Originally from Durham, N.C., Kostis now resides in Boone, with her husband, Savva, their daughter, Amara, and dog Skye. When they aren’t cheering on the Mountaineers, they are enjoying their time on the water, at the lake or at the beach, with family and friends
