App State Softball head coach Whitney Jones announced the addition of Kaylyn Belfield to the coaching staff as a graduate assistant on Aug. 13, 2026.

Belfield joins the Mountaineers after a standout playing career at UNCG, where she was a two-time First Team All-Southern Conference selection and helped lead the Spartans to the 2026 conference championship. She holds UNCG’s single-season (.431) and career (.391) batting average records and ranks among the program’s all-time leaders in several offensive categories.

A 2023 Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team selection at Lipscomb, Belfield finished her collegiate career with 204 hits and 207 starts, primarily playing center field and hitting leadoff.

Belfield also brings two years of coaching experience with LLG Futures 14U, where she has helped develop nationally ranked players and competed at premier events across the country, including PGF Premier Nationals.

At A.L. Brown High School, Belfield was ranked the No. 58 recruit in the Class of 2022 and earned All-Conference, All-District and All-State honors each year, along with Conference and District Player of the Year honors. She also won national championships with her travel team at the 2021 PGF Platinum National Championship and 2022 USA Softball Junior Olympic Cup.

Belfield is pursuing a master’s degree in Applied Data Analytics at App State with a concentration in Interdisciplinary Studies.

In her free time, she enjoys playing pickleball, watching movies, traveling, going hunting with my grandpa, and reading her Bible.
