Beam chose to further his academic and athletic career in-state following graduation from that of the Highland School of Technology out of Gastonia, N.C. He earned all-conference recognition as a junior, and then went on to claim an individual title as a senior as part of the 2018 1A State Championships. Outside of golf, Beam has earned the rank of
Eagle Scout.
