HARRISONBURG, Va. – The App State tennis team secured its first conference victory of the season, defeating James Madison 4-2.

What Happened
The Mountaineers (7-4, 1-1 SBC) came out strong, taking an early lead by winning the doubles point.
Naledi Manyube and
Olwyn Ryan-Bovey led the charge, defeating James Madison's (3-9, 1-1 SBC) No. 51-ranked doubles team in the country 6-3 from the No. 1 spot.
Alexi Cleveland and
Savannah Dada-Mascoll clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win.

Dada-Mascoll bounced back from her first loss of the season the day before, winning in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (4). Her singles record improved to 8-1, all from the No. 1 spot, and she also holds a 6-3 doubles record across all three positions.

Alexi Cleveland got singles play underway with a dominant 6-3, 6-3 straight-set win from the No. 6 spot. Dada-Mascoll followed with her win, and despite losses from
Ruby Broadbent and Ryan-Bovey, the Mountaineers prevailed with a 4-2 victory.

Manyube clinched the win for App State, securing a 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 victory in a three-set battle, giving the Mountaineers their seventh win of the season.

The Mountaineers will return to the High Country to continue Sun Belt Conference play against South Alabama, with play scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
