App State Tennis Dominates ULM 4-0, Extends Win Streak to Five

MONROE, La. – The App State tennis team cruised to a 4-0 victory over ULM, extending its win streak to five matches.
 
What Happened
The Mountaineers (12-5, 5-2 SBC) started strong with a forfeit from ULM (3-10, 0-7 SBC) on court three, giving App State an early 1-0 advantage. Ruby Broadbent and Naledi Manuybe secured the doubles point with a dominant 6-2 win from the No. 2 spot.
 
With ULM unable to field a player for the No. 6 singles spot, the Mountaineers entered singles play with a 2-0 lead.
 
In singles, Savannah Dada-Mascoll quickly pushed App State one win away from the overall victory, claiming a dominant, 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 1. After trailing 2-3 in the second set, Dada-Mascoll won four of the next five games to seal the match. Her victory improves her singles record to 12-2 this season, with a four-match win streak from the No. 1 spot.
 
With a 3-0 lead, Taya Powell clinched the win for the Mountaineers with a 6-1, 6-4, straight-set victory at No. 3. Powell's win boosts her record to 2-3 in SBC play, primarily from the third position.
 
The matches of Manuybe, Olwyn Ryan-Bovey, and Alexi Cleveland were all cut short due to the match being clinched.
 
Up Next
The Mountaineers return to the High Country for their next four matches, beginning with Gardner-Webb on Wednesday. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m.
