BOONE, N.C. – App State Tennis fell to Louisiana 4-3 on Friday, snapping the Mountaineers' four-match winning streak. It was App State's second Sun Belt Conference loss and its first since the league opener against JMU.
The Ragin' Cajuns (6-7, 3-4 SBC) won two out of three doubles matches to gain an early 1-0 lead over the Mountaineers (10-6, 4-2 SBC). App State's No.3 doubles tandem of
Brooke Gruber and
Savannah Dada-Mascoll defeated Louisiana's Paige Duncan and Jenaila Prulla 6-2 on Court 3 for their third win as a team this season.
In singles action, App State reclaimed the lead with wins from
Olwyn Ryan-Bovey and Dada-Mascoll. Ryan-Bovey defeated Kamea Medora 6-1, 6-1 in straight sets to tie the match at 1-1. The Cork, Ireland, native has won her fourth match this season, all playing No. 4. Dada-Mascoll continued to dominate, improving her winning streak to 13 matches. Naledi Manyube defeated Angelique Barret 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 in come-from-behind fashion to garner her eight win in her first collegiate season. Louisiana was able to pick up wins on Courts 5 and 6 to claim the win.
