The Appalachian State men's soccer team recorded its fourth straight win Saturday night, defeating the High Point Panthers, 1-0. This is the third consecutive clean sheet for the Mountaineers, moving them to 4-1-0 on the season. High Point falls to 2-3-0.
The Mountaineers have not given up a goal in 308 straight minutes, conceding their last goal in the 2-1 win over Loyola on Sept. 1.
A first half goal was enough for the App State defense, who was able to close out the game after a goal from
Mason Robicheaux in the 37
th minute.
Kelan Swales set up Robicheaux in the top of the box, with the defender burying his shot into the upper 90.
The Panthers held the advantage in both halves, outshooting the Mountaineers eight to four in the first half, followed by 14 shots to App State's six in the second half.
Appalachian's redshirt freshman goalkeeper,
Jacob Madden, continued to be solid between the posts, making five saves. High Point's goalkeeper Keegan Meyer made one save in the second half.
The Mountaineers have matched their win streak from last season, when they started the 2018 campaign 4-0. App State is 8-2-2 in its last 12 home matches.
The Apps hit the road for the first time in 2019, traveling to Elon on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. kick. Next Saturday, they make the trip to UNC Greensboro to take on the Spartans. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
