DURHAM, N.C. – Appalachian State men's track & field competed at the Duke Invitational.
Due to severe weather in the area on Friday, the majority of the events were moved to Saturday.
Elliott Graves turned in a season-best performance in the 110-meter hurdles, placing sixth with a time of 14.36 seconds. Graves also was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 52.92 seconds.
The Mountaineers had a solid showing in the 800-meter run.
Sean Doyle posted a season-best time of 1:56.18 and
John Fravel crossed the finish line in a PR time of 1:56.29.
In the 5,000-meter run,
Gable Dershem crossed third in a deep field in a PR time of 14:56.66. His time bettered his previous mark by nearly 30 seconds.
Ryan Brown was 13
th in the event with a time of 15:10.47.
Peter Kenn recorded a pair of top-15 finishes on the day. He placed 12
th in the hammer with a toss of 176-6 (53.81m) and was 14
th in the discus, covering 149-3 (45.51m).
The Mountaineers will compete again next weekend at the Virginia Grand Prix. The meet is the final one before the Sun Belt Championships in Jonesboro, Ark. from May 10 to May 12.
