CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Appalachian State men's track & field competed at the 49er Classic on Friday and Saturday to open the 2019 outdoor season.
Ben Cignarale posted a second-place finish in the 10,000-meter run in 32:16.47.
The relay team of
Brenton Ervin,
De'Shawn Ballard,
Elliott Graves and
Jabari Johnson recorded a second place finish in the 4x100-meter relay in 41.24 seconds. Graves also placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.92 seconds.
Peter Kenn recorded a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a PR toss of 176-9 (53.87m). Kenn also placed eighth in the discus with a toss of 146-6 (44.65m), with
Michael Albert finishing right behind in ninth with a mark of 145-2 (44.24m).
In the 5,000-meter run invite,
Isaac Benz placed sixth with a time of 14:50.55, while
Dylan Blankenship was sixth in the open high jump with a mark of 5-10.00 (1.78m).
Appalachian State will continue its outdoor season on Mar. 22 and Mar. 23 at the Winthrop Invitational.
