One Home Run The Difference in 3-0 Loss

STATESBORO, GA. – Appalachian State softball fell 0-3 to the Georgia Southern Eagles in game three on Sunday, April 29. The only difference in the score was a three-RBI home run for the Eagles that put them on top in the fifth inning.

Avery Wheatley ruined Georgia Southern's no-hitter in the top of the sixth inning with a single to the third baseman. She started a three-hit rally with trailing singles from Keri White and Alisha Josey to load the bases with one out. The Mountaineers were unable to produce any runs though.

Haley Stewart singled up the middle in the top of the seventh to lead off the inning, but a groundout, strikeout and a line drive ended the game.

Kenzie Longanecker pitched her second complete game of the weekend. She struck out three Eagles and did not walk a single batter. Longanecker held the Eagles to just three runs despite nine hits. Both Longanecker and Georgia Southern's Kaylee Ramos each threw 101 pitches.

The Mountaineers conclude their season at home on May 4-5 for the final Sun Belt series against Coastal Carolina.
