Track & Field Announces 2018-19 Schedule

BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian head track & field coach Damion McLean has announced the 2018-19 indoor and 2019 outdoor schedule.
 
The indoor schedule features five meets in preparation for the Sun Belt Championships, while the outdoor schedule includes seven meets before the conference championships.
 
The indoor season begins in Boone on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 with the Appalachian Open inside the Holmes Center. The meet is the lone competition App State will host during the season.
 
Following a break for the holidays, the Mountaineers will be back at it on Jan. 11 and Jan. 12 at the ETSU Track & Field Invitational. Following a trip to the VMI Team Challenge Jan. 26, the Black and Gold compete again at ETSU of Feb. 2 and Feb. 3 at the Buccaneer Track & Field Invitational.
 
App State has its final tune up before the Sun Belt Championships at the Darius Dixon Open, hosted by Liberty on Feb. 8 and Feb. 9.
 
The Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships takes place on Feb. 18 and Feb. 19 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
 
The 2019 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships also takes place at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Mar. 8 and Mar. 9.
 
Appalachian State will transition into the outdoor season and open at the 49er Classic on Mar. 15 and Mar. 16 at the University of Charlotte.
 
The Mountaineers compete the following weekend at Winthrop on Mar. 22 and 23 and then send a split squad to the Florida Relays and Raleigh Relays on Mar. 29 and 30.
 
Following an off weekend, App State returns back to Charlotte for the Charlotte Invitational on Apr. 12 and Apr. 13 and competes at the Duke Invitational on Apr. 19 and 20, before closing out the regular season on Apr. 26 and Apr. 27 at the Virginia Grand Prix.

The Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Championships run from May 10 to May 12 and will be hosted by Arkansas State.
 
The NCAA East Preliminary Round takes place in Jacksonville, Fla. from May 23 to May 25, with the qualifiers advancing to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Tex. from June 5 through June 8.
 
App State will also send runners to the USA Track & Field U-20 Championships from June 21-23 at a site that has yet to be announced.
