McMahon Voted an Elite Assistant By His Peers
Matt McMahon, associate head men's basketball coach at Appalachian State, has been named one of the top assistant coaches in the nation by FoxSports.com. The website polled approximately 450 coaches to assemble the list and ranked the top 20 coaches from high-major conferences and 10 from the mid-major ranks. Click here to view the entire list. McMahon has served in his current capacity as associate head coach for the past four seasons after spending four seasons as an assistant. He is also the team's recruiting coordinator and oversees the player development for Appalachian's perimeter players. A former standout for the Black and Gold, McMahon played from 1997-2000 and was a starter for the 1999-2000 NCAA Tournament squad before joining the coaching ranks.
