BLOOMINGTON -- Appalachian State sprinter
De'Shawn Ballard finished fifth in the finals of the 200-meter dash on the final day of the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships, hosted by Indiana University.
Ballard, who missed the majority of the outdoor season due to an injury, turned in a time of 21.22 seconds in the event for his fifth-place finish. He entered the race as the seventh seed, after qualifying for the finals on Saturday in 21.10 seconds.
Jessica Dixon also represented the Black and Gold at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships in the 400-meter dash. She posted a time of 56.63 seconds, which placed her 20th overall.
The USATF Junior Outdoor Championships concluded on Sunday and featured the top runners in the nation between the ages of 14 and 19.
