BLOOMINGTON -- Appalachian State sprinters
De'Shawn Ballard and
Jessica Dixon will compete at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships at the Hayes Track at the Haugh Complex on the campus of Indiana University.
Ballard will represent the Mountaineers in the 200-meter dash. He will compete in the opening round on Saturday at 7:05 p.m., with the finals slated for Sunday at 4:25 p.m.
Ballard missed the majority of the outdoor season due to injury. He enjoyed success in the indoor season, turning in the second fastest time in program history of 21.29 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Dixon will run in the 400-meter dash, with the opening round set for 5:10 p.m. on Saturday. The finals of the event will take place on Sunday at 3:15 p.m.
During the outdoor season, Dixon clocked the fifth fastest time in program history in the 400-meter dash at the Sun Belt Championships, crossing in 55.56 seconds. She also owns the second fastest indoor mark in the event in program history, with a time of 55.91 seconds.
The USATF Junior Outdoor Championships run from Friday to Sunday and features the top junior athletes between ages 14 to 19.
