BOONE, N.C. – While Appalachian State Football is known for winning championships on the field, its video department is also building up a similar collection of hardware for its high-quality highlights and motivational films.
The latest win for the App State crew, which is led by Director of Football Video Operations
George Claiborne, is the 2018 Highlight SAVVY Award for App State's 2017 season highlight video.
The Collegiate Sports Video Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to professional sports video, announced the winners of the 2018 SAVVY awards on May 17 at its annual conference held in Milwaukee, Wisc. There are three SAVVY award categories - motivational, highlight and recruiting - along with one Ultimate SAVVY Award for the best overall video from the three categories.
Winners for each category are selected by receiving the most votes from peer sports video members of the CSVA. In order to be considered for these awards, each video submitted must meet specific criteria.
The 2017 season highlight video was produced by Claiborne with assistance from Carson Fletcher (Student Director of Production), Emmitt Carden, Tristan Harris, Tyler Altizer and Madeline Blythe.
Other recent accolades for the App State video crew include 2018 SAVVY Award finalist (pre-New Mexico State motivational), 2016 SAVVY Award finalist (pre-Georgia Southern motivational) and 2015 SAVVY Award winner (pre-Michigan motivational). App State claimed SAVVY Awards in 2008, 2009 and 2014 as well.
