Shelly Hoerner and the team will also host 30 alumni and their families this weekend for Alumni Day on Saturday.
App State welcomes Georgia State back to Boone this weekend in addition to our 30 App State softball alumni. The Panthers last came up the mountain during the 2016 season. The Apps' first ever Sun Belt victory was against Georgia State during the 2015 season in Atlanta, Ga. The Mountaineers took home the 14-5 series finale win.
Jenny Dodd stands out among the Mountaineers as a consistent leader in the lineup. She holds the third highest batting average in the Sun Belt (.402) and leads the conference in on base percentage (.578). Dodd also holds the third highest slugging percentage (.732).
Scouting the Panthers
Georgia State is currently 5-9 in Sun Belt play, tied for sixth in the conference with South Alabama. The Panthers took the series victory from Troy with two wins. Against other Sun Belt opponents, they have taken one win each from UTA, South Alabama and Louisiana.
Ivie Drake, a senior catcher, leads the Panthers in several categories this season. Her .403 batting average is good for second highest in the Sun Belt. She leads the conference In RBI (50), home runs (13), total bases (101) and slugging percentage (.849).
In the circle, Kinsley Jennings has pitched 127 innings for the Panthers for a 9-8 record and a 4.24 ERA. Amanda Chance follows with 82.1 innings pitched, and Emily Soles maintains the lowest team ERA at 3.12 with 40.1 innings.
