Men's Tennis to Face CofC and The Citadel this Weekend

BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis (8-6) will travel to South Carolina for a pair of matches in as many days against College of Charleston (5-6) on Friday before concluding the weekend against The Citadel (7-17)  on Saturday.

App State is coming off a 4-1 victory over Bethune-Cookman in its previous matchup on March 7 in Florida, snapping a three-match skid. The duos of Scott Webster and Milo Bargeron won their match while Alex Brea and Alexander Free captured their first victory together as a tandem. Earning wins in singles play was Scott, Bargeron, and Alex Pavkovich to help lead App to the win.

Pacing the way in singles is Scott, who has won his last five matches en route to a 9-3 mark. The senior is one win away from double-digit victories for the fourth straight season. He's also just one victory away from 100 career victories through singles and doubles action. 

Scott is one of six Mountaineers with at least five wins, while Pavkvovich is 8-6 and the eight wins are a personal high. Ben Webster and Bargeron each have seven wins, and Blake Carter has provided a solid first season with a 6-2 mark. Campbell Stone rounds out the leaders with five victories. App is 46-35 in singles action.

Bargeron and S. Webster lead the team in doubles holding an 8-3 record. Pavkovich and B. Webster are 7-5. The duos are a combined 15-8 this season, leading App to a 21-15 record in doubles play.

Scouting College of Charleston (5-6)
The Cougars are coming off a 5-2 loss in their most recent outing and have won two of their past three contests. CofC has struggled at home this season with a 1-3 showing. Leading the CofC is Benedikt Henning, who has a 7-3 record in singles while playing between the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Ryan Kahn is the other Cougar with five wins as he is 5-6 on the season. CofC is 33-33 in singles action. CofC's strength is doubles play where it is 18-12 (.600) on the season. Juan Estevarena/Benedikt Henning pace the team at 5-1. Three other duos have at least two wins. 

Scouting The Citadel (7-17)
The Bulldogs have dropped five of their past six matches with the lone win coming against Belmont Abbey. The Citadel has yet to win a home match at 0-5. Roy Hobson and Gavin Stewart each lead the team with 10 wins apiece in singles play. Will Graham/Matthew Henson boast four wins in doubles. 

Appalachian will return to action on Sunday, March 25 against Coastal Carolina in its first Sun Belt match of the season. First serve is at 12 p.m.
