About the Mountaineers

Last Time Out
In one of the biggest wins of the season, the Apps earned a hard-fought 57-56 overtime triumph over South Alabama on Thursday evening. The Mountaineers fought back from a late 48-44 deficit to score five of the next six points to force overtime thanks to a game-tying 3-pointer from LaPresha Stanley. The freshman helped App hit eight free throws coupled with timely defensive stops to pull out the win. Stanley turned in a game-high 17 points and nine rebounds, while Bayley Plummer netted her league-leading 11th double-double of the season with 10 points and 17 rebounds. Nicola Mathews stuffed the box score with 10 points, a season-high seven rebounds and a game-high five assists, giving the sophomore point guard her first game of the season with at least 10 points, five rebounds and five assists.

What to Watch For
• The defense on Thursday against South Alabama was stellar, holding the Jaguars to 24.1 percent from the field, which tied a season low and 9-for-38 from the beyond the arc. Watch if App can harass a Troy team that is first in the league in scoring.
• App State has allowed 48 offensive rebounds (24.0 per game) over the past two contests after allowing just 9.75 in the prior four games. See if the Mountaineers can keep the Trojans, who come into the contest averaging 18.1 offensive rebounds, which lead the league.
LaPresha Stanley is averaging 20.5 points on 47.8 percent shooting, 72.7 percent and is 3-of-4 from deep over the past two games while pulling down 8.5 rebounds contest. Stanley scored a then-career-high 18 points at Troy in the first meeting. Expect the freshman to keep up the stellar play.
• In the first matchup against Troy, the Mountaineers were 1-of-14 from 3-point range. Expect that to look different against the Trojans on Saturday.
• In 11 losses this season, opponents have averaged 24 free throw attempts against Troy including four games where teams have attempted at least 30 foul shots. See if the Apps can get to the line after attempting a season-high 32 foul shots.
