Men's Soccer Plays Host to High Point

BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State men's soccer (3-5-1) hosts in-state foe High Point (3-3-2) at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the friendly confines of Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.

About the Mountaineers
The Apps are coming off a pair of hard-fought 1-0 setbacks on the road to UNCG in overtime last Saturday and most recently No. 19 Duke. Appalachian held Duke scoreless in the first half and for the first 57 minutes of the contest before Brian White gave the Blue Devils the lead for good. App had a chance with possession with under a minute left but couldn't capitalize. Duke is the second ranked ACC opponent (No. 4 WF - 9/12) that App held scoreless in the opening stanza.

Always Around
With the exception of the 3-0 defeat to then-No. 4 Wake Forest, Eight of nine matches have resulted by one goal or a tie, while four of the five losses have been by a goal. Appalachian has either held the lead or have been tied in every match at the half this season. 

Home Sweet Home
Appalachian has taken take advantage of the home field with a 2-1-1 mark this season, while boasting just a 1-4 record on the road. Through four home contests thus far, App is outscoring its opponents, 6-3, while its counterparts have outscored the Black and Gold, 9-3. 

Scouting High Point 
The Panthers are coming off their best performance of the season with a 3-0 win over UNC Asheville on Saturday, breaking a 0-3-2 streak in the previous five matches. Seven different Panthers haves scored this season with Justen Shear and Bana Ganidekam scoring two each to lead the way. Keegan Meyer is the main goalkeeper, posting a 1.34 goals against average and 20 saves. 

Series History
The Apps are 14-3 in the all-time series, but both teams haven't met since 2013 when HPU won 2-1.
