BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's soccer (0-3-1) will have a pair of matches this weekend beginning with UNCG (1-3-0) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before traveling to Lubbock, Texas for an 8 p.m. match against Texas Tech.

About the Mountaineers
Appalachian fell to Northern Kentucky most recently in its second-straight overtime match, 2-1.
Kat Greer nabbed her first goal of the season with less than four minutes left in the match to help force overtime, giving the Apps a gritty effort when facing the deficit.
Sam Steyl would
play a season-high 95 minutes with three saves, which was also a season best.
Offense Turning it Around
It seems the offense may have started turning it around after the last two contests. Appalachian fired off nine shots on goal with a goal scored in two-straight matches, while shooting a season-high .714 SOG percentage (5-7) against Ball State. In the first two matches of the season, App had zero goals with five shots on goal.
Leaders
Maggie Hanusek and Greer lead the team with a goal and two points.Â
Emmily Cowie and
Erin Settle each has tallied an assist.
Lindsey Tully,
Sharon Osterbind, and Hanusek all have two shots on goal, while Tully's nine goals are a team best.
Taylor Ray has played a team-best 155 minutes at goalkeeper, while her teammate in Steyl has posted a team-high four saves.
Scouting UNCG
The Spartans are 1-3 to start the season after falling to Clemson in their most recent outing, 4-0. UNCGÂ is led by fourth-year head coach Michael Coll, who is 25-28-8 going into tomorrow's match. Gabbi Charles and Emily Jensen each have a goal, and Charles' three points lead the visitors.In all three losses
UNCGÂ has failed to score a goal while scoring two goals in its lone win against Elon (W: 2-1).
Scouting Texas Tech
The Red Raiders are off to a 3-1 start this season following a 1-0 shutout over San Diego. Three different athletes in Carly Wickenheiser, Hannah Fernandez, and Kirsten Davis lead the team with one goal, and Gwennie Puente boasts TT's only assist. Marissa Zuchetto and Carissa Christensen have split time at goalkeeper with the duo combining for eight saves and Christensen boasting a 2-1 mark.Â
Series History
Appalachian is 2-16-2 against UNCG in the all-time series, but the last two matches have been 1-1 draws.Â
Texas Tech edged App in the series' only affair, 2-1, last season.Â
