Preseason Rewind
The Mountaineers have had two preseason matches against NC State and in the Black and Gold match. Appalachian and NC State ended in a 0-0 tie highlighted by some clutch saves by
Mitch Kilmer late in the match to keep the game tied in a defensive stalemate, while
Daniel Avila and
Tyquann Perinchief both notched goals for their respective squads in the Black and Gold contest.
Scouting Radford
The Highlanders will be a tough test for the Mountaineers, as the visitors were picked to win the Big South Conference and features the Co-Preseason Defensive Player of the Year in Fraser Colmer. RU returns 21 student-athletes and seven starters from a 2016 squad that enjoyed a 14-4-2 mark that won the Big South regular season and tournament championship, which led to a second-straight NCAA Tournament.
What's Next
The Apps will start the regular season with a pair of road matches in Virginia next weekend, beginning with Old Dominion on Friday at 7 p.m.
