Moore Named to Maxell Watch List; FB Notebook- July 12

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.
– Appalachian State junior running back Jalin Moore (Shelby, N.C.) has been named to the watch list for the 81st annual Maxwell Award. The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937. Maxwell's contributions to the game of football were extensive, including time as a player, a sportswriter and an official.

COMPLETE MAXWELL WATCH LIST

The watch lists will once again incorporate a broad spectrum of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) programs and conferences from coast to coast. Returning Maxwell Award winner Lamar Jackson (Louisville) headlines the way for the 2017 watch list class. Alabama and Texas lead the pack with four and three Maxwell Award candidates, respectively, as the season approaches.

Moore, the 2016 Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year, led the conference with 1,402 yards rushing despite sharing the backfield with fellow 1,000-yard rusher in Marcus Cox. Moore ranked 19th-nationally in rushing yards and averaged 5.9 yards per carry. The junior was a two-time Sun Belt Player of the Week selection.
