BOONE, N.C. – Don't be surprised to see more of Appalachian State Football as you drive up and down the interstates on the East Coast.
The produce company Hollar & Greene has added an App State Football design to the back of its fleet of tractor trailers servicing the eastern United States, proudly supporting the Mountaineers with each stop along the way. Based in Boone, Hollar & Greene is a family-built, family-owned produce company with more than 75 trucks that reach up the northeastern seaboard and south into Florida. The company has Appalachian roots and is now the largest distributor of farm-fresh cabbage in the eastern U.S.
Dale Greene, and his father-in-law, Lige Hollar started the company and are (long-time) friends of Appalachian State, evident by proudly supporting the Mountaineers with each passing mile. The family is long-time season ticket holders for Appalachian State football and dedicated members of the Yosef Club.
Hollar & Greene not only support App State football delivering cabbage and fresh vegtables throughout the eastern U.S., but also at company outings, some of which are centered around home games at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
The company has always been a friend of Appalachian, sometimes in the unique ways only a produce and its trucking fleet can help. Mr. Yosef himself, Gerald Adams, would hitch the occasional ride from Florida back to his favorite place – Boone – when his wife Julia wanted to spend a few extra days on the beach vacationing. Through the years, he helped cultivate the relationship with Hollar & Greene and would be thrilled today to know the company proudly displays the Black & Gold across America.
