Updating App State Players in the NFL

BOONE, N.C. — Eight former Appalachian State football players are currently on NFL rosters.

Daniel Kilgore, a seventh-year center for the San Francisco 49ers, continues to be a bright spot for the team. He has started all 13 games in 2017 and hasn't missed an offensive snap, playing in a career-high 901.

Second-year 49ers defensive end Ronald Blair was inactive last weekend, but he has put up nine solo tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in four games since returning from injury on Nov. 5.

Kendall Lamm, a third-year offensive tackle for the Houston Texans, has played in 10 games this season. He made his fourth start of the season Dec. 10 but left that game against the 49ers with a possible concussion. First-year pro Kennan Gilchrist remains a member of the Texans' practice squad.

Sam Martin, a Pro Bowl punter for the Detroit Lions, has punted at least once in six of the team's seven games since returning from injury on Oct. 29. He holds a 38.6 net punting average with eight punts downed inside the 20-yard line.

Brian Quick, a sixth-year receiver playing in his first season with the Washington Redskins, hauled in a reception for 7 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers last weekend. It was Quick's first reception for the Redskins since he had three catches for 49 yards on Nov. 5.

Travaris Cadet, a sixth-year running back, has rushed for 69 yards on 17 carries since signing with the Buffalo Bills last month. He has caught 12 passes for 79 yards in those four games.

Doug Middleton, a second-year safety for the New York Jets, has remained on the reserve/injured list all season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle during the preseason.
