The Apps are coming off a tough 59-57 defeat to Davidson on Sunday where the Wildcats' Justine Lyon hit a jumper with 6.7 seconds left to give the visitors the lead. App had time to get off a shot, but failed to do so.
Lainey Gosnell shined in her first-career start as she scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed a personal-high nine rebounds. Gosnell scored 14 of her points in the second half including nine in the fourth quarter, which all were behind the arc. She hit two trifectas in a 16-second span to tie the game at 57-all in the final 1:41 of the contest.
Kaila Craven registered a season-high 15 points off the bench, shooting 4-for-8 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe. It's the most points she's scored since returning from injury.
Bayley Plummer posted a personal-high 16 boards, which is the highest rebounding performance in the Sun Belt thus far. Her 13.5 rebounding average tops the Sun Belt and is in the top 15 in the nation.
What to Watch for
• The Mountaineers got off to a slow start going down 18-8 in the opening quarter on Sunday to the Wildcats before outscoring Davidson in the final three periods by eight points. NC A&T has been outscored by an average of 21.3-8 in the opening frame over its first three games. See if the Black and Gold can get off to a better start on Tuesday.
• App State has assisted on 30 of its 39 field goals (77 percent) over the last two games after posting just 11 helpers on 27 buckets (40 percent) in the first two contests of the season. Anticipate on the Black and Gold to continue the excellent ball movement.
• The Mountaineers have pushed the pace with a tempo of 76 in the last two games after failing to reach 70 in the first two games of the season. Watch if the Mountaineers can continue to push the tempo against the Aggies.
• The App defense allowed its fewest points per possession at .787 against Davidson on Sunday. See if the defense can continue to make it tough for opponents on the defensive end of the floor
