Women's Basketball Seeks First Win Versus Davidson

BOONE, N.C. - App State women's basketball (0-2) aims to capture its first win of the season against Davidson (1-2) on Sunday at the Holmes Center with tip-off slated for 2 p.m.

Fans can still purchase a 2017-18 Appalachian State basketball season ticket, which reserves a seat for all 26 regular-season games at the Holmes Center (13 men's, 13 women's), costs just $175 for courtside. Non-courtside season tickets are $100 for adults, $80 for senior citizens (ages 60 ) and Appalachian State faculty/staff and $50 for youth (ages 3-12). Appalachian State basketball season tickets can be purchased online by clicking here, by phone at (828) 262-2079 or in person at the Appalachian State athletics ticket office, located at the Holmes Center (Monday - Friday; 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.).

Last Time Out
The Mountaineers fell to the Buccaneers of ETSU in a 70-57 contest on Tuesday. App State clawed its way back in the third quarter outscoring ETSU, 21-10, to go into the fourth period tied. However, ETSU double up on App, 26-13, to capture its first victory in the past four matchup against the Black and Gold. App State scored a season-high 57 points and assisted on 16 of 20 field goals, which was also a season best. Tierra Wilson scored a personal-high 17 points while Bayley Plummer was one point shy of a second straight double-double, as she posted nine points and tied a personal best with 13 rebounds. She also tied a career high with three blocks. Lainey Gosnell (8 points) and Kaila Craven ( 7 points ) scored 15 of App's 22 points coming off the bench.

What to Watch for
•  Over the last two games, Bayley Plummer has averaged a double-double at 10 points and 13 rebounds per game and is shooting 53.3 percent from the field. She shot just 1-for-7 and scored four points against Georgia Tech. Expect Plummer to continue her solid play against Davidson.
• Davidson has allowed at least one point per possession in its two losses. See if the Mountaineers can build of their season-high 57 points and season-best 16 assists on 20 field goals (80 percent) against ETSU.
Lainey Gosnell (8 points) and Kaila Craven (7 points) scored 15 of the Mountaineers'  season-high 22 bench points. Watch if the pair can give the Black and Gold another spark on Sunday.
Tierra Wilson is averaging 16.0 points in the two home games (8 in lone road game). Expect Wilson to continue that trend of scoring in double figures in the Holmes Center.
• The Mountaineers are turning the ball over 21.3 times per game, while Davidson opponents are turning the ball over just 13.7 times.  See if App can protect the ball in Sunday's contest. 

Scouting Davidson

• Davidson is in its first year in the Gayle Coats
Fulks Era.
• She arrives from Wake Forest where she was an assistant for the Demon Deacons for five seasons.
• The Wildcats have three athletes that are scoring in double figures with Justine Lyon averaging 13.0 points per game, while Katie Turner (12.7 ppg) and Sarah Donovan (10.7 ppg) follow suit. 
• Mackenzie Latt leads the way averaging 7.7 rebounds per game and is dishing out a team-high 3.0 assists per contest.
• Davidson has lost back-to-back games to NC State and Furman. It's only win came in a 70-57 win over Western Carolina.
• The Wildcats allow the 10th-most points per possession at 0.951.
• However, the Wildcats are third in the Atlantic 10 in 3-point field percentage defense allowing opponents to shoot just 28.8 percent from beyond the arc.
• Davidson also attempts nearly 20 3-pointers per game, the third most in the A-10.

• The Mountaineers boast a .536 win percentage against the Wildcats with 28 of their 37 wins coming against Davidson.'
• App State has won the past two matchups against Davidson following a four-game skid in the series.
• Appalachian has averaged 73 points over the previous two contests after failing to score over 60 in the losing streak.
