Last Time Out
Appalachian had a tough road opener in a 61-40 setback against Big South Preseason favorites, Radford, on Sunday. The Black and Gold gave RU all it could handle until the Highlanders used a 23-6 surge over the final 7:49 of the game to pull away.
Bayley Plummer posted her first double-double of the season and the third of her career with a career mark of 11 points and 12 boards. The sophomore went 5-for-5 from the floor in the second half after starting 0-of-4 from the floor to score 10 of her 11 points in the second stanza. Through the first two games of the season, Plummer is second in the Sun Belt in rebounding at 12.5 rpg, while she is also tied for second in steals averaging 3.0 spg.
What to Watch For
• Watch if App State can control the glass against a Buccaneer team that is allowing 50.5 rebounds per game, including a clip of 17.5 offensive rebounds through their two games and 22.5 second-chance points.
• Plummer has stuffed the stat sheet over the first two games of the season putting in 7.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. She scored 10 of her career-high 11 points against Radford in her first double-double of the season. Expect Plummer to establish her presence early in the contest.
• Appalachian's offense has found its open shots, but the shots aren't falling for the Black and Gold. The Mountaineers have averaged 72.3 points per game in the past three meetings against ETSU. Expect the offense to come out strong in Wednesday's contest.
• Through the first two games of the season, App State's pace of 66.5 is in the bottom of half of the Sun Belt. Last season, App was the second-fasted team in the league. See if App can come out and dictate the tempo against th Bucs.
