CHARLESTON, S.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis finished the fall season at the College of Charleston with an impressive showing as it captured five flight championships in singles and doubles action.
The Mountaineers led the quartet of teams in South Carolina State, Campbell and host CofC with five (3 singles; 2 doubles) flight titles in a hidden dual format. App collected two of the three flight brackets while coming away with three singles titles.
Ben Webster and
Alex Pavkovich won the F2 doubles championship while
Spencer Brown and
Alex Brea won themselves the F3 Doubles Bracket. Brown highlighted the weekend with both a singles and doubles championship.
Appalachian received contributions from everyone on the team en route to 16 wins over the weekend. For the Apps, it closes out a fall session that gives head coach
Bob Lake confidence App will have a strong spring slate and contend for a Sun Belt title.
"Across the board we had everyone step up this fall and improve as the season progressed," Lake stated. "We faced some great competition that certainly prepares us for the spring schedule, and this helped our first-year athletes gain valuable experience against top-notch talent. I know the team can't wait to get started already come January 20 against UNCW."
Milo Bargeron would collect a singles title in the F2 Singles flight, while
Blake Carter and Brown ended the Mountaineers' weekend on a high note capturing bracket wins as well.Â
Appalachian took home two of the three doubles contests against CoC, while netting four of six victories in singles action against the Cougars. Three of the four wins in singles competition went straight sets, including victories from
Scott Webster, (Ben) Webster and Pavkovich.Â
