ITA REGIONAL DRAWS
BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis heads to Cary, N.C. for the 2017 ITA Regionals Hosted by Duke.
The field will include teams from the North and South Carolina region and some of the top teams from the area, featuring Duke, Clemson, South Carolina and East Carolina. Four Mountaineers will compete in the tournament, as a pair of freshmen in
Ben Webster and
Spencer Brown, along with
Milo Bargeron and the 14th overall seed in
Scott Webster will look to make some noise during the four-day event.
Last season, the Black and Gold registered eight wins in the tournament with Webster advancing to the Round of 16 while Bargeron earned a win in both singles and doubles play.
It's the first tournament of October that the Apps have participated in, coming off a 15-win weekend at the Bash at the Beach hosted by Coastal Carolina from Sept. 15-17.
Alex Pavkovich and
Alex Brea dealt the Blue Hose a pair of setbacks during singles action.
Cole Heller ended the singles portion with a win of his own, adding to the already improved performance. Bargeron and Pavkovich teamed up for an impressive win before Webster and Brown won their second match of the weekend.
Brown ended his weekend on a high note with another victory in singles action, while
Campbell Stone tallied two wins at Coastal.
