RALEIGH, N.C. – The App State men's and women's track and field team continued action at the Raleigh Relays on Friday. The Mountaineers recorded a first-place finish in the men's pole vault invitational and have tallied 15 top-25 finishes so far. The Raleigh Relays will conclude on Saturday. Field events will start at 9:30 a.m. and track events will start at 1 p.m.
Freshman
Matthew Gray clinched first with a personal best clearance of 5.20m (17' 0.75") in the invitational section of the men's pole vault. Gray's clearance moved him to third in the App State all-time list.
Senior
Taylor Smith earned bronze in the women's 100 meters, recording a personal best of 11.58. She remains fifth in the App State all-time list. Freshman
Jayla Adams stopped the clock at 11.66 to take seventh. Adams' time ties her with Jennifer Claud and Breanna Alston for sixth in the program top-10. Fellow freshman
Kendall Johnson finished 19th with a time of 11.91.
Senior
Niejel Wilkins landed fourth in the men's triple jump with a season best leap of 15.06m (49' 5"), while graduate student
Ashlee Osaji landed sixth in the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.31m (40' 4.75"). Senior
Chris Wainscott took 10th in the men's discus with a season best toss of 49.68m (163' 0").
In the men's 110-meter hurdles, sophomore
Harrison Robinson finished 11th with a time of 14.09. Graduate student
Alexia Moehling stopped the clock at 13.88 for a season best and top-15 finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Her time raised her to fourth in the App State all-time list. In the men's 100 meters, freshman Armonté Ferguson rounded out the top-15 with a time of 10.55. Meanwhile, freshman
Sierra Smith placed 25th in the women's 400 meters with a time of 57.05.
Junior
Catherine Breault closed out the night in the women's 10,000 meters, stopping the clock with a personal best time of 36.34.94, improving on her previous best of 39:05.35. Her time moved her to 10th in the App State all-time list.
Thursday Rewind
On Thursday, Wainscott took second in the men's shot put with a toss of 17.81m. (58' 5.25") and fellow senior
Nathan Karl rounded out the top-20 with a mark of 16.05m (52' 8"). Junior
Daiyanna Cooper rounded out the top-25 in the women's shot put with a season best toss of 12.96m (42' 6.25"). In the men's 1,500 meters, sophomore
Ethan Lipham clocked a personal best of 3:49.93 to take third in his section and 85th overall out of 208 competitors.
