Mountaineers Announce Women’s Basketball 2024-25 Promotional Schedule

BOONE, N.C. - The App State women's basketball team announced its promotional schedule for its 14 home games on Wednesday.

The Mountaineers will open a new era under the direction of head coach Alaura Sharp and her staff on Nov. 4 at Miami (OH) for the first installment of this season's MAC-SBC Challenge before returning to Boone for the Black and Gold's home opener against Columbia College on Nov. 6. Sharp was named the ninth head coach in App State women's basketball history by Director of Athletics Doug Gillin on April 5, 2024. Sharp guided Presbyterian to its first NCAA Tournament berth in program history and first NCAA Tournament victory last season. She led the Blue Hose for six seasons and had been an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss prior to her time at Presbyterian.

Returning for their senior seasons in the Black and Gold are Emily Carver, Samantha LaFon, Zada Porter, and J'Mani Ingram. Carver, a 2024-25 Preseason First Team All-SBC selection, averaged 13.5 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, and 1.8 assists per game last season. She also ranked fourth in the league and in the NCAA's top-70 in 3-pointers per game (2.29). Rylan Moffitt also returns for her junior season after leading the team in rebounds, averaging eight per game, and blocked shots, totaling 32, during the 2023-24 season.

Nine newcomers will join the Mountaineers' ranks, led by junior Emily Hege. Hege tallied 982 points in her two seasons at Wingate, averaging 15.8 points per contest. Spain, Iceland, Croatia, and Australia will be represented on this season's team as the Mountaineers welcome senior Mara Neira, freshman Hekla Nökkvadóttir, junior Elena Pericic, and senior Georgia Gray. Neira averaged 10.6 points per game in her two seasons at Presbyterian in addition to 4.1 rebounds per game. In her two seasons at Salem, Elena Pericic averaged 11.9 points per game as well as 6.7 assists per game.
