BOONE, N.C. - App State field hockey is set to host conference opponent Ohio on Friday at 3 p.m. at Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field in Boone.

The Mountaineers have started the season 2-1 at home. They defeated a ranked James Madison team 2-0 and most recently picked apart Davidson's defense in a 6-3 victory.Â
Their sole home loss came against Miami (OH) in App State's first and only conference game thus far. Â
Junior forward Sarah Farrell is leading the team in goals this season with three. Farrell has also recorded an assist and currently has a shot on goal percentage of 80%.Close behind, Sterre Molkenboer, Charlotte Bosma and Carli Ciocco have each registered two goals for the Mountaineers. The team is coming into Friday's game with a total shot on goal percentage of 67%.
Senior midfielder Friederike Stegen is leading the Black & Gold with four assists this season, and has tied Taylor Cimbalist for the career assist record at App State with 22.
Defensively, Grace Ball is leading the team in defensive saves with two followed by Pauline Mangold with one.
The Ohio Bobcats are 3-7 this season and 1-1 in Mid-American Conference games. They lost to Kent State in a double-overtime game and took care of Ball State in a 3-0 victory.
Ohio players Jillian Shive and Katelyn Whittle are leading the Bobcats on offense this year with six goals a piece. However, App State goalkeeper Addie Clark has had an incredibly strong start to the season with 45 saves in seven contests.
After Friday's match, the Mountaineers will go on the road next weekend to continue MAC play. They will visit Ball State on Friday, Oct. 8 at 1.pm. They will then travel to Louisville, KY to face Bellarmine at noon on Oct. 10.Â
