Phil Steele's List of All-Americans Includes Three Mountaineers

BOONE, N.C. — Phil Steele's All-America football teams for 2020 include three App State standouts: cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles, offensive guard Ryan Neuzil and cornerback Shaun Jolly.

Jean-Charles made the third team, Neuzil was listed on the fourth team and Jolly received honorable mention recognition. App State and LSU were the only FBS programs to have two cornerbacks honored.

Jean-Charles has received All-America recognition from four different organizations following a senior season in which he led nation with 16 PBUs and 17 passes defended. Following a 2019 season in which he earned multiple All-America honors, Jolly broke up six passes and made 41 tackles for a defense that ranked in the top 20 nationally in passes defended (No. 1, 74), lowest completion percentage allowed (No. 1, 48.0), lowest passer rating allowed (No. 4, 102.9), fewest yards per pass attempt (No. 7, 6.1) and fewest passing yards allowed per game (No. 9, 177.9).

Neuzil has received All-America recognition from three different organizations. According to PFF College, he was one of two FBS guards to record a grade above 86.0 as both a pass blocker and run blocker in 2020.
