BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's basketball (5-12, 3-3 SBC) seeks its fourth straight win when it faces Troy (7-9, 2-3 SBC) in a Thursday matinee at 1 p.m. (ET) at Trojan Arena.

Appalachian rolled past rival Georgia Southern in an 87-56 triumph last Saturday at the Holmes Center for its third straight conference win. The Mountaineers moved to .500 in conference play while they have won three straight SBC games in a row for the first time since 2014-15.
Tierra Wilson led five players in double figures with 21 points on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting from the field and 5-for-5 from 3-point range. The bench scored a season-high 34 points in the win shooting 13-of-22 from the floor with 18 boards and seven assists.
Lainey Gosnell paced the reserves with 14 points while Dominique Jefferey recorded a career-high 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting with five rebounds. App posted a dominating 56-26 edge on the glass including 20 offensive rebounds.
Nicola Mathews dished out a career-high eight assists and grabbed six boards, while
Bayley Plummer posted her league-leading eighth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 off the glass.
LaPresha Stanley got in on the action with 11 points and a personal-high nine rebounds, just one rebound shy of her first double-double.
What to Watch For
• The Mountaineers are averaging 13.4 offensive rebounds per game while USA is allowing 14.8 per game including 20 to CCU on Thursday. See if the Black and Gold can come up with second-chance opportunities.
• Wilson is on a tear as she's averaging 23.3 points, shooting 61.1 percent from the field and 68 percent from 3-point range. See if the freshman can keep up the hot shooting.
• USA is 0-3 when teams have hit 10 or more 3-pointers on it this season. Appalachian is shooting a scorching 53.2 percent (33-62) over the past three games and is averaging 11 treys during the span. Watch if App can continue to shoot well from deep.
• Opponents are attempting 17.7 free throws per game against South Alabama. See if the Apps can get to the free throw line and capitalize on the charity stripe.
• During the three-game win streak, the bench for App is averaging 18.7 points, 16.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 53.8 percent from the field. See if the reserves can continue the stellar play on Saturday.
Scouting South Alabama
• The Jaguars are on a three-game win streak and have won five of their past six overall.
• USA is a solid 8-2 at home this season and has yet to lose at the Mitchell Center in conference play.
• Chyna Ellis and Savannah Jones have shouldered the load on offense averaging 15.2 and 14.6 ppg, respectively.
• Ellis coming off the program's first-ever triple-double after posting 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks
• The senior center is fifth in scoring, third in rebound and first in blocked shots
• USA is third in the conference in scoring averaging 69.6 ppg and fourth in scoring defense allowing 60.7 ppg
• The Jaguars are also first in field goal percentage (43.0%) and field goal percentage defense limiting foes to 34.5 percent shooting from the floor.
Series History
The Jaguars have the edge in the all-time series with a 4-3 mark and have won the past three meetings. App State won the first three of four contests and averaged 74 points per game against USA, but the Jaguar defense has allowed 55 points or fewer in all three wins.

App State will play Troy on Monday at 6 p.m. (ET). The Mountaineers and Trojans were scheduled to play yesterday but inclement weather pushed the game back.
